Why we pack matcha in foil pouches, not tins

Matcha is a living green powder. Light, air, moisture and warmth are what turn it dull and flat. So when we chose our packaging, we started with one question: what keeps the colour and flavour best, from the mountain to your shelf?
Foil keeps the dark in
A foil pouch blocks light completely and holds a tight seal. It is also light to ship, and it folds down as you use it, leaving less air around the powder — a quiet echo of our name.
Keeping it fresh at home
Once opened, press out the air and close the pouch tightly. Store it somewhere cool and dark, or in the fridge away from strong smells, and let it come to room temperature before opening so no condensation forms. For the brightest flavour, enjoy it within about a month of opening.
Unopened
A sealed pouch keeps for up to 24 months. The best-before date is printed on every label.
